Biography
In 2001, Mrs. Maria Mopereo turned her passion for children and her love for her community into action by opening an early childhood learning centre. At the time, many young children in the area spent their days unsupervised on the streets while their parents worked. Seeing this need, Mrs. Mopereo created a safe and nurturing space where children could learn, grow, and be cared for throughout the day. Her compassion went beyond the classroom — she even opened her home to children who needed extra love and care after hours. With over 21 years of experience in early childhood and community development, Mrs. Mopereo has successfully established and managed day care centres in Diepsloot, Cosmo City and Riverside View, relying solely on her determination, small school fees, and the generous support of church fundraisers — all without external sponsorships or donations. Her journey is a true testament to what passion, faith, and purpose can achieve.

Her vision is to continue and establish schools where there is a need, to make sure that children must go to school to support the bill of rights of all children in South Africa (Right to Learn) in our constitution.
